2010 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships Drawing Of Lots to take place on Wednesday |
Rome, Italy, October 26, 2009 - The much anticipated Drawing of Lots for the 2010 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships will take place at 19:00 (local time) on Wednesday in the Petrassi Hall of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. A total of 24 countries will be drawn across six pools for the 17th edition of the FIVB Men’s World Championships, which will be held across 10 different cities (Milan, Ancona, Catania, Florence, Modena, Reggio Calabria, Turin, Trieste and Verona) in Italy from September 24-October 10, 2010. A great evening of entertainment will be broadcast live on RaiSport Più with major figures in the world of Volleyball present, including the President of the FIVB Sports Events Council and FIVB 2nd Executive Vice-President Mr. Theofanis Tsiokris and the Presidents of the FIVB Confederations - FIVB 1st Executive Vice-President Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz (NORCECA), FIVB Executive Vice-President and Treasurer Mr. André Meyer (Europe) and FIVB Executive Vice-Presidents Dr. Saleh Ahmad Bin Nasser (Asia), Dr. Ary Graça (South America) and Dr. Amr M. Elwani (Africa) - as well as dignitaries and celebrities from the world of music and fashion. A record-breaking number of nations (112) participated in the year-long qualifying process before 22 countries joined hosts Italy and defending champions Brazil in the final round.
